Keeping belts clean
Material carryback is one of the most frequent problems we are asked to advise on. Indeed, when material is driven past the unloading pulley, operating problems multiply.
- Increased cleaning costs
- Increased dust in the plant
- Wear and tear on the return rollers
- Excessive wear of the belt
- Belt alignment problems
- Excessive energy consumption
- Dirty and dangerous environment
There is a variety of systems on the market for cleaning conveyor belts. The most common arrangement is using two static scrapers. The primary scraper being a flexible urethane blade and the secondary scraper consisting of a more rigid blade to remove any material still stuck on the surface of the belt.
This type of installation is generally adequate if the scrapers have been well chosen according to the type of materials, and the conditions of operation. Also, the installation of these accessories requires a good precision to ensure their maximum efficiency.
Finally, it is important to regularly inspect and maintain the scrapers. They are indeed components exposed to intensive wear and it is necessary to replace and/or readjust them at regular intervals.
If necessary, do not hesitate to consult the experts at your suppliers or at Trinum.
